What a Smart Opener Does
- Shows you whether the door is open or closed, from anywhere.
- Opens and closes it from your phone.
- Sends an alert if it's left open, and on many models can close it on a timer.
- Lets you give family or a dog walker access without handing out a remote.
- On some models, lets you open the door for a package delivery.
Most people get one so they stop turning around halfway to work to check the door.
Upgrade or Replace?
Many newer openers already have the smart features built in and just need to be connected to Wi-Fi and set up in the app. Some older openers can get phone control with an add-on. Openers that are old or worn out are usually better replaced. Zach will look at yours and tell you which one makes sense, and see opener installation if it's time for a new one.
What Zach Sets Up
He installs or connects the opener, makes sure your Wi-Fi reaches the garage, sets up the myQ app on your phone, and tests the alerts and the app before he leaves. If the Wi-Fi doesn't reach, he'll tell you so you can fix that rather than finding out later.
The wall button and your regular remotes keep working without the internet. Pairing it with a battery backup keeps the door running in a power outage too.
